Introducing: Tom Burgess

Tom Burgess

Tom Burgess

The new album from rising folk-blues star Tom Burgess is to be released later this week.

Black Cabs Red Phoneboxes was the first single from Burgess’ as-yet unreleased album ‘Walking Home At Ten..’.

Building on past work as front-man of indie group The Mod Cons, Burgess has layered a haunting slide guitar melody over a crisp back-beat, complimenting his poignant lyrics. The result is a complex, soulful song which has led critics to herald Burgess as the new Badly Drawn Boy.

Burgess has attracted a large following in South East England, and both his new single and album feature local legend Phil Burdett. Burgess himself is no new-comer to the music scene, having written and played as a solo artist for over a year, after the dissolution of The Mod Cons.

Tom has a busy summer lined up, with bookings for festivals, gigs, the launch for his new album on 15th August at the Railway Hotel as well as another single!

Upcoming Tom Burgess Live dates:

15th August – The Railway Hotel, Southend-on-Sea

29th August – Riga Music Bar, Southend-on-Sea

30th August – Steeplefest, Southminster (Headline act: Bez (Happy Mondays))
