Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke debuted a new song (Past Tense?) during his solo set at this weekend’s Latitude festival. Halfway through his set, which included songs from his solo back catalogue as well as some Radiohead favourites, Yorke said: “This is a new song, so you know – go for a piss!” The song was played on the acoustic guitar and included the refrain “I’m lost in you” towards the end.

Playing to a huge crowd first on the Obelisk Arena stage this afternoon, Yorke was in an un-characterically chatty mood. As he walked on stage, he addressed the crowd by saying: “Shhhh! There’s people sleeping! Have you got any jokes,” before opening with solo hit ‘The Eraser’. He went on to play Radiohead tracks including ‘Weird Fishes/Arpeggi’ and a rare outing for ‘Follow Me Around’, acknowledging “That track’s kind of been on the shelf for a while.” Yorke also played Radiohead classic ‘Everything It’s Right Place’, from the band’s 2000 album ‘Kid A’, which recieved a warm response from the crowd. After closing his set with ‘Videotape‘, Yorke returned to the stage for a two-song encore, which consisted of 2003 Radiohead single ‘There There’ and ‘True Love Waits’.

This year’s Latitude festival has seen performances from the likes of Doves, White Lies and Editors, and has been headlined over the weekend by Pet Shop Boys and Grace Jones. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are tonight’s headliners, bringing to an end the three day event which takes place in Henham Park, Suffolk.
