Local bands can usually expect a warm response when playing on home turf, but you’d be hard pressed to find a band recieve the passion White Light Parade enjoy from the moment they take to the stage at The Leeds Cockpit.

As soon as the first tune kicks in, the response is immediate, the bar is set, and it isn’t dropped. The pace is unrelenting as the band tear through songs from new album ‘House Of Commons‘ at break-neck speed. On their Myspace page, they talk of an album that is “a loud, raucous attack on the establishment”, and as such the songs are delivered with the air of a band with things to get off their chest.

The band are driven along by the ferocious playing of guitarist Jono Yates, who’s boundless energy eggs an already raucous crowd on still further, while brother Danny exudes the confidence of a natural front-man. The rhythm section, consiting of Tom Emmett on bass and Nici Todd on drums quietly but efficiently keeps the fast pace in check.

Young Believers, ‘Burn It Down‘ and recent single ‘Wake Up’ are stand-outs, each delivering three minutes of fast-paced, catchy rock n roll. Jono-sung ‘Riot In The City‘ (watch below), with it’s rolling drums and sharp guitars is the highlight, as the band channels their passion and intensity perfectly. Debut single ‘Wait For The Weekend’ is the obvious crowd favourite, and the huge singalong is the perfect way to end the gig.
