Sean Lennon has criticised Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis’ decision to book Bruce Springsteen for the Saturday night headline slot at this year’s festival. Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Lennon said “It’s shocking. I’ve been to a few Glastos in my time, I’ve even played a few, and it just didn’t seem like that was the kind of artist they had headlining. I heard they called him and he didn’t even know what it was.”
It is the second time in two years that Eavis has faced criticism for the Saturday headliner. Last year Noel Gallagher famously blamed poor ticket sales for the festival on the decision to book Jay-Z, saying hip-hop at Glastonbury was ‘wrong’.
Lennon did however praise the decision to book veteran Neil Young, who will headline the Pyramid Stage on Friday. “I love Neil Young” he said, “I feel like he’s one of the only people who managed to stay cool the whole time, which is really hard isn’t it.”
Organisers of the festival changed the ticket policy this year in an attempt to avoid the slow sales of last year, and as a result Glastonbury sold out months in advance. The festival, which sees reformed band Blur headlining with Springsteen and Young, kicks off at Worthy Farm on Friday.
I think this guy has a name that he hasn’t earned and is jealous of one of
the last livin legends connected to the music of his father.
Who gives a crap what Sean Lennon thinks about … well … anything?
Since John & Yoko were into “imagining” all sorts of stuff, would it not have been better if they had simply imagined having a child as opposed to actually bringing a real one into the world? And what’s more, their imaginary kid could have been unspeakably attractive, in additon to being filled to the brim with talent, intellect, and wisdom seldom seen by mankind. But noooo…they just had to have a real kid…one who appears to be breathtakingly underwhelming in every conceivable way. C’mon Sean lil’ buddy…yer dad was John Lennon, as in “Beatle John”. Yer mom is Yoko Ono, the Orient’s strangest and most bizzarre export to date. With a little effort on your part Sean, you could easily top your mother in a game of “most spectacular failure”. I say GO FOR IT!!!
