Paul McCartney will open New York Mets Stadium

Paul McCartney will be making his first headlining appearance since playing Coachella in May next month. McCartney will be opening the new Mets stadium, Citi Field, in Queens, New York, almost 44 years after christening the team’s former home at Shea Stadium with the .

The singer is slated to perform staples from his original band’s catalog, a few solo songs, and some tracks that date back to McCartney’s time as a part of the band Wings. He will also delve into songs he recorded as The Fireman.




McCartney released a statement proclaiming his enthusiasm for the event: “The Beatles were the first to play Shea Stadium and along with Billy Joel, I was the last to sing at the old Shea. So to be the first to play this stadium is incredible. I am really looking forward to a buzzing show.”

The former Beatle will be performing at Citi Field July 17 and 18, and tickets will go on sale June 15 through 507tixx.com.
