Bret Michaels’ incident at the Tony Awards, in which the Poison singer took a spill after walking head-first into a descending stage prop, has inspired the recollection of great stage mishaps of the past – including one made had by David Bowie five years ago.
In June of 2004 in Norway, Bowie was playing onstage when an overzealous fan launched a lollipop from the crowd – and hit the glam rocker dead in the eye. The lollipop stuck between Bowie’s eyeball and eye lid, eliciting a string of understandable profanities from the rocker. After a brief trip backstage, Bowie returned with a bit of minor swelling to finish off his set.
No one is sure just yet if Michaels was so lucky – though it has been reported that Bret did not break his nose after slamming into the prop and landing on his back, the extent of his injuries is unknown.
